Tarifa alone

So Jamie left on the Thursday after my birthday. I found a cheap Airbnb nearer to the centre where this really cool Russian guy Andreu lived. I was hoping he would give me kite surfing lessons as he was an instructor. But unfortunately he didn’t want to kite surf anymore as he had done it enough. He was trying to get a job as a data scientist in AI. He was previously a physicist looking at shapes... I spent the next few days trying to focus on my app. Failing and so went for a 40km run one day. Was knackering! I also met a cool guy called Alessandro who was an illustrator for GIG games in Malaga his work was amazing. I’d love to do soemthing with him.  I find it amazing when you travel on ur own how much more open you are to meeting new people and having experiences you wouldn’t have with a friend.  After a few days I was starting to get cabin fever of Tarifa. It’s the kind of place that can rot your mind if you stay too long. For a weekend or a short holidya with friends it’s...

Gibraltar

Gosh what a weird place. Colonial British part of Spain. The Spanish got Ceuta on the African side and the British got Gibraltar. They make a huge effort to keep it as British as possible. The traffic lights, the police, road signs, theatres (some guy had donated his wealth to build the theatre to keep a connection to British arts), fire station (that is old and dated to 60s) the language and the food. I had a bad English breakfast for my birthday. Was cooked by a Muslim lady which we thought was ironic cause she couldn’t handle bacon surely.  Didn’t bother with going up the rock queues way to big... so we went on our way to Ronda...which was cool. Followed by Malaga which was rubbish altho the drive through th surrounding mountains was amazing.

Tarifa and The drive

Such a cool drive to Tarifa. Amazing coastline all along there from El Palma beach to Punto Los Canos de Mecca where there is this beautiful lighthouse marking the spot where the battle of Trafalgor happened. We found this weird skeleton on the beach. Looked like a whale or soemthing. Also found what looked llike the remains of immigrant boats.  Loads of caravans and campers as people come here to surf and kite surf and travel, you really notice it. One thing I noticed when going for runs a long the beaches is how much shit there is in the forest behind the car parks where everyone parks for free!  Getting to Tarifa at night the apartment we were in was very posh. Which was ok but I actually missed our place in Cadiz it was old had character...Tarifa place was like on a housing estate on the edge of town. Turns it tarifa is super small anyway so it didn’t matter and the actual much more expensive old town was 10 mins walk away. We went for a few drinks in Taco Way. Tarifa is f...

Cádiz

Cádiz blew me away the moment we drove into the city. It had an air of something very beautiful and old. I liked it a lot. Stupidly I decided to drive down the narrow streets of Cadiz. It was horrible and I felt like I was about to squash so many people. I don’t think driving did Jamie’s nerves any good. Parking is terrible iin Cadiz. To park for free you have to park outside the old town near the sea. It’s not so bad, bit of a walk but 15 euros a day otherwise. Met this cool guy in Cadiz , Juan. He is. Doctor from madrid. Think we spoken before but never actually met. He was on a family holiday. He invited me to ski with him. Who knows where that might go Most of the time Jamie and me spent it drinking sangria on our roof terrace and the beach. Our roof terrace was the best thing about the place. Just really cool to chill there. I was being a bit boring for Jamie and went to library to do some work on my app. He went to the beach and things. Was cool to just experience Cadiz for a bit...

Madrid and Sevilla

After spending a few days in Madrid with Jamie going to a few parties like the one in Tierno next to my house, also drinking in the street in Plaza del dos mayos we got a. La bla car to the south. Our driver was a rapper from Getafe  https://youtu.be/qGCSo8abRpY  GCD or soemthing. Seemed like a cool  Guy bit of geezer. Told me something about car buying. Didn’t understand a word. Arriving in Sevilla it was hot. We checked into our room in this cheap hostel with this very professional and not a bit friendly host... was like some shitty hotel on the edge of town.  The centre of Sevilla is beautiful. We walked around a bit. I was having a bit of a melt down as I had just moved out of my house in Madrid, technically homeless, also wanted to work on my app. Basically wasn’t really in a holiday mood cause as Jamie said , when life’s one big holiday you don’t need a holiday. I actually went to work in the library the next day on my app. For me travelling to the south of Spa...
